Visions
During this fight players will randomly be hit with Scornful Bloodcurse (Red Vision) or Icy Bloodcurse (Purple Vision).
Red vision can be misleading. Often presents as more of a dark purple/blackish vision. If your raid is having trouble distinguishing between the visions, have them hop in the red pool (which they will be standing near) before going to purple pool. It may take several pulls for people to see what they are looking for.
It is important when you are the one with the vision, to take a beat and assess your situation. Make sure your detriment is off or that Squall of Darkness is not about to hit before you rush off to your pool. you will have a few seconds to make sure you are sorted out before running off. It is easy for people to be low on health or have a detriment and die on the way to the pool.
Note: Do not linger in the pool, just a quick in and out. The timer for the red pool is much shorter than the purple (but yay! you are right next to it). If you do not make it to the pools in the appropriate amount of time, it is a raid wipe.
Cures
This fight is very cure heavy. It is important to cure all detriments in a timely fashion. Power drains are tied to each detriment. Anyone who has the ability to cure self should, whether that be pots or single target cures. Healers will be working overtime trying to keep their groups green detriment free. Be ready to cross cure as well.
Power
Power is a serious issue during this fight. If you have a detriment cure yourself if able and try not to cast while under a detriment. Each group needs power regen. Any extra boosts you can give to your group will be important. Mythical Coercers, Mystics, Chockadi Girdle (pondwash), Power signets, and Manastones.
Inquisitors should toggle off Dogma for this fight.
Wraiths
Every 60 secs on of the four groups will receive the Mark of Darkness, which makes them unable to attack Zarrakon but will be able to attack the Lich add.
The group that is marked for the add needs to burn it down fast.
Group Set Ups
You will want essentially 4 independent groups. 1 tank in each group, 2 healers in each group, enchanter in each group.
Tanks
Tanks be prepared for many tank swaps, between pool visions, wraith adds
Placement
The raid starts out stacked at the bottom of the stairs just before Zarrakon.
The MT will run the mob straight back to roughly the third brazier from the red pool and then turn him so his head is facing the red pool.
While this is happening the rest of the raid will take off and run around the outside to the red pool and wait for the MT to say that the mob is placed, once that happens the raid will position max range from the mob by the red pool.
Blockers on Pull. Each group should have a blocker, this is primarily to protect against tail lash as the mob is being placed.
LET THE TANK PLACE THE MOB. Keep your spells and pets to yourself until the mob is placed properly.
The fight
As mentioned before, this fight is full of detriments. Make sure you are paying attention to your detriments and curing what you can or at the very least not killing yourself and draining your power.
As the wraith adds spawn, 1 of the 4 groups will not be able to attack Zarrakon and only attack the wraith. Be prepared for the tank swap as needed.
Purple and Red vision will be cast on random players during the fight. If you get the vision, relax and make sure you have health and no detriments or that Squall is not about to hit (more so if purple pool) before running off.
Just before Squall of Darkness hits, you will not be able to attack Zarrakon. Use this brief moment to green up the groups and remove detriments. Once Squall of Darkness hits you will be able to resume your attack on Zarrakon.
This fight is a rough one. There are several things that need to be ironed out to be successful. The first is the placement of the mob. Do not be discouraged if it takes several pulls to get the feel of the placement and the placement right. Second is mastering tank swaps. Communication is key. Third is the visions/pools. If you have one player who routinely misses it, try to find out why. Red vision can be tricky as it does not look red. It may take many failed attempts until players know what they are looking for, even then things can go wrong, players can be knocked off platform, die on the way to the pool, etc. Not managing power or not being on top of cures.
